2018 already feels like its flying by - if you don't feel like you have got yourself on track health and fitness wise read below.

Getting started on an exercise regime, healthier eating plan is always hard. In fact i think its the hardest part. I’m guilty for not taking the time to exercise, in the morning I say i will do it in the evening and in the evening I say i will do it tomorrow morning. Time is always going to pass whether you are sitting on the couch or exercising.

It’s easy for work to get in the way too. If we all treated our training sessions like an important meeting in our diaries and not let it be the first thing we drop when times get busy we would all be a lot fitter and healthier. It’s an important meeting with yourself - and one when you will thank yourself for staying committed to in the long run.

If it’s not written down it’s not a goal - it’s a wish or a dream. Did you know that if you wrote down your goals you are 80% more likely to achieve them. It’s the reminder when you lose focus or the journey gets too hard - to remember why you started in the first place and keep you from quitting. It also helps you to plan how you are going to get there. You might say my goal is to loose 15lbs by summer. - Once you have set your goal you can start working on the behaviour goals. This is what you have complete control over - what you are going to do to achieve your goal. Behaviour goals could be anything from “I’m going to do 3 Barrys Bootcamp classes a week for 3months” or “I’m going to not eat junk food for 3months” or “I’m going to walk to work 3 times a week” - these behaviour goals will get you to your outcome goal of losing the 15lbs.

Whatever you set out to do - it needs to be realistic. You need to make sure you are using the correct time frame and committing to what needs to be done to achieve the goal. It’s no use saying “i’m going to lose 15lbs in 3weeks - and I will do it by doing 7 Barrys classes a week and only eating chicken, broccoli and protein shakes. First of all losing 15lbs in 3weeks isn't healthy. Secondly you need a training schedule you can stick to without literally running yourself into the ground. Thirdly - you will get so bored eating that and be more likely to binge at the end and throw out all the handwork anyway!

Yes we do have to work harder to achieve goals - but we need to do it in a healthy sustainable way.

If you are struggling to find the the motivation - not sure what to do or you just don’t seem to be getting anywhere - get in touch with a nutrition/fitness professional and let them help you get on track. I’m happy to help point you in the right direction if you DM on @krystinaclaire_

P.S - I reference Barrys bootcamp because in my opinion its an excellent workout option, and it’s one of the things I miss most about London.
